Job Summary
Our client, a well-established company specializing in safety solutions, is seeking a Fire Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and performing preventative maintenance on various sizes of fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment. The company is a leading supplier of engineering products in the region, distributing high-quality equipment from several industry-leading companies worldwide. These products conform to international standards and are certified by the Kenya Bureau of Standards.
- Minimum Experience: Diploma in Electric and Electronic Engineering

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities
- Performs routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various fire suppression equipment, e.g., fire extinguishers, range hood extinguishing systems, and fire hoses.
- Maintains movie screens, paper cutters, maps, signage, window blinds, and stage curtains.
- May lead, instruct, or review the work of entry level technicians.
- Dismantles extinguishers and examines tubing, horns, head gaskets, cutter discs, and other parts for defects and replaces worn or damaged parts.
- Inspects and repairs wet and dry fire sprinklers and range hood extinguishing systems.
- Cleans and recharges extinguishers with materials such as patented solutions.
- Repairs cabinets or brackets holding extinguishers.
- Tests fire extinguishers; Inspects, repairs, and/or replaces fire hoses.
- Inspects extinguishers for compliance with legal specifications using hand tools and performing hydrostatic tests.
- Installs cabinets for fire recall systems.
- Installs fire extinguishers in new or renovated facilities.
- Monitors inventory and initiates requests for supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Tags fire extinguishing equipment to certify equipment has been properly inspected and operational.
- Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Performs moderately complex physically demanding semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks of buildings, grounds, and school and athletic equipment, requiring use and working knowledge of specialized tools, equipment, and/or materials.
- Tests fire extinguishers; Inspects, repairs, and/or replaces fire hoses.
- Inspects extinguishers for compliance with legal specifications using hand tools and performing hydrostatic tests.
- Tags fire extinguishing equipment to certify equipment has been properly inspected and operational.
- Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Minimum Requirements & Responsibility
- At least 3 years of Experience as a Fire Technician
- Must have experience in both Fire Detection and Fire Suppression systems
- Minimum a Diploma in Electric and Electronic Engineering
- Training as a Fire Marshal or First aid is desirable
- Experience in AutoCAD or other design software is an added advantage
